No-one could have predicted the baby giraffe trend that seemed to start a few years ago. The whole world fell in love with April the Giraffe via the live stream camera from the Animal Adventure Park.
April's first baby at Animal Adventure Park was born on April 15, 2017. All of a sudden, everyone wanted to know everything about April and giraffes in general. We've gathered some of our favorite baby giraffe facts right here for you in one article to satisfy all your giraffe questions.
Baby Giraffe Names
While we still don't have a baby giraffe name for April's newest baby boy, fans have not been shy to suggest names. April's last baby's name is Tajiri, which her trainer chose and means "hope" and "confidence" in Swahili.
Other names in consideration included Apollo, Geoffrey, Gio, Harpur, Noah, Ollie, Patch, Patches and Unity. Obviously, the names for the baby giraffe came from pop culture references and heritage alike. We can only guess what the next baby giraffe's name will be.
Other Baby Giraffe Zoo Births
April & Oliver aren't the only zoo giraffe parents. The Milwaukee County Zoo welcomed a new baby giraffe, Maya, in 2018. She joined a baby male born in 2017, Kazi.
The Philadelphia Zoo, Como Zoo & Zoo Atlanta have all welcomed baby giraffes into their zoo families in recent years as well.

Giraffe baby gifts have been popular long before April came into popularity. In fact, our son's favorite baby blanket came from a brand named Little Giraffe. And I don't know many families today with a baby who don't own a Sophie the Giraffe teether.
