Pheonix Offers a Program to Help Mothers in Need

The Arizona Health Start Program wants all new moms to know they are not alone in the struggles of motherhood. News of Jenna Folwell, 19, accused of drowning her four-week-old infant, has shed light on the need to raise awareness about the resources available to new moms.
"I would hope that anybody else who feels trapped, or they don't have that support, that they will look out into their community and seek resources and know that it's OK to ask for help," Arizona Health Start Program Coordinator Daili Lister told FOX10.
Lister and her team hope that sharing this story will help other moms seek help.

“There’s just so much pressure, from friends, family, all eyes are on you,” said Kaylanna Etsitty, 20, mother of two. “People are judging you.”
Etsitty went to the Arizona Health Start Program for support with her second child. She was a young mom, and the program walked with her through her journey with depression and the challenges she faced with breastfeeding.
This Arizona program and many others across the country are free. These types of programs are equipped with professionals ready to help families prevent tragedies and provide much needed encouragement to mothers.
